Culture and Ethics Resource Centre

Introduction

The Culture and Ethics Resource Centre has been developed to provide users with a range of resources and materials on sports ethics and cultures.

Sport cultures can be quite strong and defined in terms of structure, behaviours, attitudes, symbolism, tradition and language. They can embrace or they can exclude. They can offer a platform for diversity and connection, where people can see each other differently and find meaning in common purpose and endeavour, or they can become homogenous, elitist rather than elite, and potentially a law unto themselves. Like all areas of life, sport and its culture is something we ought to examine if we expect it to meet its potential. As Socrates said, ‘The unexamined life is not worth living’.
